Task 1 – Individual Assessment
for 29.3 & 1.3 Music Video Production & Pre-production and Post-production
of a media product
Scenario
You will take responsibility for preproduction in
the role of production coordinator for the production of a video. You will are
working for a video production company you and your team will be required to originate ideas, research and plan
music videos for a number of tracks which will be pitched to the bands’ marketing
people to try to get the production contracts.
Individual planning
1a. Initial response
Locate and listen to the audio track you have decided to create a music
video for. Write a short individual response to the track describing how you
fee the track covers all the following elements:
Genre, style
Length, pace
Meaning
Imagery and semiotics
1b. Music video production
proposal
Write a proposal (Blog), detailing your practical plan for your music
video. This must cover the following headings:
Basic information: artist and song titles, message and feeling of the
song, target audience(s) of video, summary of video content and concept.
Technical information: describe the purposes, techniques and conventions
that your music video will attempt to achieve and use.
Financial information: List the elements of your production and editing
that would cost money in a professional context such as clearance to use song
(See MCPS-PRS document on Moodle), actors, equipment hire etc. and state if
these elements are actually funded by someone else (eg. College media
department budget for cameras etc.)
1c. Shooting Script
Complete a shooting script for your music video which should include at
least ten suggested shots (in order of
location, to help plan continuity) for your proposed music video, including
camera movements and angles and an estimate of the amount of takes you would
require to successfully achieve each shot.
1d. Story board
Draw a storyboard for your music video. This should include a minimum of
twelve important shots from your individual proposed music video and include
shots of any found footage you might use.
There are 3 separate tasks – all tasks must be handed in by:
18th of December 2015.
